New Year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

i know, i know, ANOTHER post from the honeybeats. like we don’t have anything better to do right?! ha. bad joke. we’ve really fell behind on this BUT not to worry, we’ll get our shit together this year. ange and i were out wandering around st. john’s while i was home visiting (leaving tomorrow – back to the big smoke, boo hoo) and started chatting about our new years resolutions. and no, none of what we chatted about had much to do with blogging, but i got to thinking after we chatted and realized that we really hadn’t spent much time on here in the past few months – well, basically since i moved and we both started back at school… which bummed me out. no matter how busy or hectic life gets, i think it’s important to make time for your passions and to make sure you MAKE time for the things that make you happy and/or you enjoy doing. i’ve also fell behind on my running, which i used to do every single day (ok, maybe i’d take a few days off..) but as we start in on 2013, i encourage you to take some time to reflect back on the past year and if there’s something you wish you had of done more of or wish you could do more of, then do it this year – do what you love, as often as you can.

ahem…. now that’s out of the way. it’s music time..

phosphorescent’s new album “muchacho” is out march 19th and they released this goodie a little while ago. the first time i heard it, it kinda felt like someone just knocked me out. have a listen and a read. enjoy!

Some say love is a burning thing
That it makes a fiery ring
Oh but I know love as a fading thing
Just as fickle as a feather in a stream
See, honey, I saw love. You see, it came to me
It put its face up to my face so I could see
Yeah then I saw love disfigure me
Into something I am not recognizing

See, the cage, it called. I said, “Come on in”
I will not open myself up this way again
Nor lay my face to the soil, nor my teeth to the sand
I will not lay like this for days now upon end
You will not see me fall, nor see me struggle to stand
To be acknowledge by some touch from his gnarled hands
You see, the cage, it called. I said, “Come on in”
I will not open myself up this way again

You see, the moon is bright in that treetop night
I see the shadows that we cast in the cold, clean light
My feet are gold. My heart is white
And we race out on the desert plains all night
See, honey, I am not some broken thing
I do not lay here in the dark waiting for thee
No my heart is gold. My feet are light
And I am racing out on the desert plains all night

So some say love is a burning thing
That it makes a fiery ring
Oh but I know love as a caging thing
Just a killer come to call from some awful dream
O and all you folks, you come to see
You just stand there in the glass looking at me
But my heart is wild. And my bones are steam
And I could kill you with my bare hands if I was free
